The State of the Nation's Housing 2016

The next time you're in the mood for a good read, curl up with a glass of wine and the 2016 State of the Nation's Housing Report from the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. Sorry in advance for bumming you out.

The US homeownership rate has tumbled to its lowest level in nearly a half-century. The decade-long declines are especially large among the age groups in the prime first-time homebuying years. The falloff in homeownership has more than offset earlier gains, leaving age-specific rates for all but the oldest households significantly lower than in 1995.
