Balancing Parking

How much space for parking? It’s tough balancing act for builders and regulators.

While this article is focused on Washington, DC, it has a good explanation of how tricky it is to determine how much parking should be required when setting parking requirements. The SW-SAZ reduces, but doesn't eliminate parking minimums.

The parking issue boils down essentially to one big question: How many parking spaces are actually needed on a site, given the land uses and development density envisioned, and given transportation modes and costs associated with accessing the site?
