Mayor Discusses Next Steps for South Willamette

Mayor Piercy: Reset south Willamette rezone efforts

The Register-Guard reports today that Mayor Piercy is offering her own proposal to restart the South Willamette planning process. The first step appears to be an open public meeting to agree on a path forward for a new effort. She mentions that an "out-of-area facilitator would help that later discussion along."

In a letter sent April 13, WE CAN urged the Mayor and Council to support an inclusive, facilitated trust-building next step for the South Willamette process.

“I’m proposing we need to go back to Square One,” Piercy said. “We still have all the information we had and we still have all the work that’s been done. That can be used or not, but it’s there as a resource. I think our planning department and our community members are all eager to go to work on something that will have more success and more support from the neighborhood and community alike.”
