Most and Least Expensive States to Own A Car
Cars aren't cheap. In Oregon, in addition to the cost of the car itself (depending on the car, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars) and any interest on a car loan, the average ownership and usage costs of a car is over $3000 a year. That's a lot of money-- by comparison, a bus pass costs less than 1/10th that, and to get around by foot, all most people need is a good pair of shoes.
Giving people the option to spend less of their hard earned money on cars and car costs is one reason why building walkable neighborhoods is so important.
